Utility Arboriculture – Aerial Operator

Who is this for?

This course is for those who will be tackling vegetation and tree works from above (i.e. climbing/aerial operatives), using both hand pruning tools and chainsaws. Attendees of this course will already hold their UA Ground Based Pruning and UA Assisted Felling qualifications.

*You must be over 18 to attend this course, due to the constraints of the awarding body.

2 days Training with an additional 1 day City & Guilds NPTC Assessment

Venue:

This is normally completed at our site locally to Builth Wells.
If you have enough people for a full course, we are able to run this course on your site (subject to a pre-course visit).

Pre-requisites:

UA Basic Electrical Knowledge | UA Species Recognition, Growth Characteristics and Associated Hazards | Tree Climbing & Aerial Rescue | Chainsaw Maintenance & Crosscutting | Felling Small Trees up to 380mm | Use of a Chainsaw from a Rope & Harness | UA Ground-based Pruning | UA Assisted Tree Felling

Qualification:    

City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate of Competence in Utility Arboriculture Aerial Pruning

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

  • Risk assessment, hazards, risks, controls, emergency planning and personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Risk Zones recap – Proximity zones, vicinity zones, live zones
  • Understand work methods for all tree categories
  • Maintain & assemble insulated tools
  • Plan & agree safe work method with ground staff
  • Carry out pre climb tree inspection
  • Use insulated tools to prune trees in proximity to overhead power lines
  • Clean & tidy site to specification
  • To be able to work safely
