This course is for those who are using tree shears or grapple saws to take down limbs or trees.

2 days Training followed by a 1 day City & Guilds NPTC Assessment

Understand the safety requirements and regulations for operating the machine including PUWER & LOLER in relation to the inspection & use of machine
Understand the operational implications of felling and dismantling trees (including those that are dead and dying), risk management, lift planning and environmental safeguards of felling operations
Demonstrate knowledge of the machine components, their functions, and controls
Inspect the base machine, cutting head and ancillary equipment for safe and effective condition
Carry out relevant operator maintenance and pre-start checks; starting & post-start checks.
Drive the machine safely & correctly, and manoeuvre to working position on a range of terrain e.g., on road, off road, on slopes.
Demonstrate knowledge and application of the techniques used to fell, delimb and dismantle trees, including Risk Management and how operations can be planned for each site or tree.
Carry out felling, delimbing and dismantling of trees within the capacity of the machine using safe and effective techniques, including organisation of landing area for timber.
Attach / detach cutting head attachment and ancillary equipment.
